Please comment on this photo of Ultracom expansion vessel

This is the pipe union to the expansion vessel in my Glow Worm Ultracom 30cxi. See the white fur at the top of the nut and the green marks below. Do you think that this indicates a slight leak? My first instinct would be to attempt to tighten the nut, however thought I would ask you guys to comment first please?

Inside the boiler casing is a gas safe fitters job I'm afraid.

If it was leaking they would be staining underneath, on the inside of the combustion box. There isn't so I would leave well alone. Why was you looking? Has the pressure been dropping? Might be a idea to get it serviced/checked as you have opened the combustion box up

The pressure drops very slowly - it has always needed topping up about 3 times a year but I suppose that is not excessive?

Three times a year if from 1.0 to 1.5 bar when cold is not excessive at all and in fact rather good!

Dosnt sound excessive, if it was dropping more frequently I would check the vessel.
as it is dropping slowly I would make sure there's no leaks on the rad valves as these can can easily go unnoticed, make sure to check the gland nuts (the seal from the valve to the shaft) and the pins on any trv's

My comment is that you've taken off a cover that should only removed by an RGI.

I am not an RGI myself but once you have replaced the cover, how are you going to check for the subsequent leaking of any noxious gasses into your home?!

Hence all the concerned warnings & leading questions as to why you've chosen to remove said cover. You have to now get it checked by an RGI.
