Hello,

Wondered if anyone could advise what level the water should be in the tank. Mine seems to be quite high (it just covers the bottom of the dip pipe for the overflow. Is this correct?) Thanks

It will fill until the float is elevated enough to close the valve. Have you checked at what level the float valve closes and that it isn't held open a tad by crud?

The float valve is fine and the tank is very clean - it was the full level I was curious about - should it be touching the dip pipe or below it?

It should be just above the bottom of the dip pipe, IE the dip pipe should dip into the water

Your ball valve should come into the tank about 50 - 60mm below the top edge of the tank - the overflow pipe should enter the tank about 30mm below the ball valve.

The overflow pipe should turn down 90 degrees to just dip below the adjusted water level. This is to prevent cold drafts from freezing the tank surface, and it also prevents entry of insects.

FWIW: as the o/flow pipe projects out of the exterior wall it should also have a 90 degree fitting to prevent dripping from staining the wall surface.
