Ok I'll keep this as brief as I can. After several years in my house finally got round to papering, painting, dado etc hall and stairs.so the floor....ceramic tiles in good condition but totally clashing new colour scheme. Wanted wood but would have had to fetch them all up as threshold of front door slings quite low to existing floor (5mm) door upvc so can't be trimmed. Considered Lino but again same issue. So I was left with tiles. Decided to paint them. Used Leyland heavy duty grey following reviews online. Prepped floor, hoovered, cleaned with white spirit, sanded to key it up (although course grade didn't seem to make much of a diff). Applied paint, went on and covered well. Let dry 24 hours and second coated. Looks pretty good but I've noticed its scratching up easily, you could scratch it with your finger nail for example, so wife running Hoover over it isn't bearing up well!!! Can I or shall I 3rd coat ? Apply a clear vanish?? Or any other advice gratefully received !! Ps tiles were 12inch square ceramic but kind of textured, not totally smooth/flat. Cheers Rich.
