Vaillant ecotec 831 and wireless thermostat VRT350 problem

Hello,

I don't know if anyone can advise or help.

Had this above put it just about a month ago now and i am having problems with the heating coming on when it shouldn't.
I have my timer set up for the heating to come on at 6.50 in the morning. For some reason it keeps coming on between 4am and 5am even though it is in the set back mode ( which is set to 10 deg ) so it shouldn't even come on at all.
This seems to happen every day and I'm, fed up of getting woken up feeling hot ! ( even though the radiator is off in my room )

It doesn't seem to do this any other time of day when the timer is set and in auto mode, just this time in the morning and I cant work out why!

I have gone through every detail on the timer system and the programmer and just cant see why it would do this and only at that time in the morning.
The temperature is ok as it is in set back mode at 10deg and when it should come on it should go to 20deg, which at the moment, as the weather is okish, it doesn't really drop much past 19deg.
Have checked that the unit is sending signal through to the boiler and that is all ok and i guess if it wasn't , the heating would pop on at other times of the day when not asked to, which it doesnt do.
Have also made sure that comfort mode is switched off on boiler in case this was the problem but no difference.

Does anyone have any ideas at all?

I've had this before, with it coming on randomly when in summer mode. Resolved it by calling Vaillant who changed the vrt350F for a new one under warranty.

Yeah we did that too but its still happening under the new one they put in, looking through the internet its a common problem that many people have had so there is obviously something wrong in its make up somewhere. We are awaiting yet another visit fom vaillant, i guess they will change it again and i hope the problem doesnt continue

I have just started having the same problem only yesterday, heating fired up when the controller was set to summer mode. I reduced the temperature setting on both the night set back and the daytime to around 10c although the actual temperature of the room was 22.0c. So I switched off the boiler at the mains and restarted thinking that it may have malfunctioned but there was no improvement. I have now reduced the boiler heating flow temperature to below 0c and then the display states "turn heating off" to which I responded ok. Hasn't come on since. from studying the sequence of events, I feel that the fault is within the programmer, because setting the programmer to summer mode only overrides its functions but does not actually switch off the boiler as I did manually. My next experiment is to remove the batteries from the programmer temporarily to see if it will reset its functions.

Also I am aware that this could be caused by RF interference, I brought in from the garden an electronic temperature sensor which has a radio link to an indoor display, which transmits a signal at 433Mhz! just wondering if this may be what triggered the heating to fire up!

If you hard wire recover to Ebus on pcb 2 wires and the back plate that comes with the kit , then either screw to wall or seat on top of boiler you won’t have any further issues, had to do this on atleast 8 units recently and no comes backs. Vaillant advice this, as the ebus connection is better then front connection

Apologies but I am not understanding exactly how you do this, as I am not completely familiar with what EBUS is, does this mean that the radio link is disabled so that the boiler and programmer are wired together. Currently my programmer is attached to the wall half way up the stairs as a central point in the house!

Get your installer to do it 25min job easy peasy
