I'm a stay at home mum. I know NOTHING about boilers, but I've been reading lots of threads as I've worked my way through two glasses of red.

My problem is this: I have no butterfly valves.

I can see what I think must be two sets of valves on each boiler (I have 2) but can't see how I would open them without a special tool. A flat head screwdriver didn't work - it was just skidding about uselessly.

My installer and the main building contractor who employed him appear to have phones turned off. It would be REALLY good to fix this so I could get in the shower!!!

Anyone able to help?

Panic over. Installer called. Valves were nowhere near boilers; in another room in fact.

All sorted and boilers are merrily doing their thing.

<happy dance>

Part of the commissioning of a boiler is to explain to the user how to use the boiler and its controls including the filling loop as this is a user maintenance task.

Furthermore the installer is also to tick a box on the Benchmark certificate to say that he has done this!

Builders are not renown for paying boiler installers properly and those who find they need to work for builders are not likely to be the helpful ones who leave their phones on after working hours to help people.
