Running Cable Inside to Outside Under Damp Proof Membrane Layer

I don't do double posting normally of course but I have also posted this in building as I'm not sure where it sits.

Can I drill through the wall to the outside underneath the damp proof membrane to run a cable ?

It will be about 6 inches below the actual membrane layer so not damaging the membrane itself. It will also be about 6 inches off the patio surface as well. I have quite a high black brick as you can see before the membrane layer. Not sure if this location for the hole is allowed or will compromise the integrity of the damp proofing. It will be a vey small hole, around 10mm

Yes, I wasn't sure as its a cable that a sparks would be more likely to see this

Before I even read this I thought "that's a building question". That it's a cable is irrelevant - it could just as well be a water, gas or oil supply pipe, a waste pipe, a ventilation duct....

OK - let the builders deal with the DPM issue.

topgazza - what sort of cable is it? What's it for? What size is it? How long is it? What size is the load? What is the protective device? Where will it run once it gets outside? If it's a new circuit have you applied for Building Regulations approval, and what are you going to do about the testing which should be done before and after energising it before it's put into service?

Drill through into the house with an upward slope, seal the cable in with silicone. If e cable it to run up the wall loop it down into a u bend shape first to stop water tracking down it and into the hole
