Two magnetic filters on my heating system? !?

Is using two magnetic filters on a central heating system going to cause any problems?

  • The only problem is that the filters will require extra maintenance to keep them in good nick

Also a clean system is only a partial part in a healthy boiler.

Best not kept secret really, you may get better advice as to how to ensure a good system operation. I'm guessing you fitted yourself?

A service does not just make sure the boiler continues to work, it makes sure that it continues to work in a safe manner. Can you afford not to do that? Would cost you just over a pound a week for this vital task.

OK I'm getting the impression you think I'm already Gas Safe Registered... as flattering as that is I'm afraid you're 100% wrong. You also seem to think I'm some pre-existing forum member. Once again I can assure you I am not. I am just a naughty DIY'er (you can guess the rest). As for the ACS stuff... pipedreams atm, will prob. never happen. The truth be told I was hoping that the professionals would let me into their little gang if I said I was trying for ACS, it's hard to get any help on this forum!

Now please do me a favour and accept that I am a layman, and in that regard I have no idea what you're talking about when you use the term 'Residual Head'. It's a grundfos pump, boiler is Baxi Main Eco Elite 30

also a pound a week for a service??? who you kidding... that's £52 annually?? no chance not even in Bradford

Plenty of decent, polite members of the public get useful, sound advice that saves them money on here. Maybe it's your attitude that is the problem?

My servicing prices start from £65 but then my customers get a proper service for that not just a poke and go... You get what you pay for with servicing!

Nope not at all. Hence the good luck with your ACS.

As has been said, many many, many people get advice. Your attitude may well be why you are struggling and also your habit of passing incorrect advice to other members and unwillingness to listen to those that have tried with you.

Believe me... That is widely accepted across the forum

Nope I said just over a pound week. I charge £75 for a full service some charge a little less some a little more. All in the same ball park though. Those that are considerably less are no doubt cutting corners or desperate for work as they have no recommendations.

There's a couple of my customers I'd like to poke and go, not sure they'd pay me £65 for the privilege though!

I don't recall doing that... you sure you got the right person?

Bit random I know, have my powerflush booked in for the morning and read on a website that they should measure the temperature of every radiator before commencing, to compare the improvement to the system once they've finished. I was planning on turning the heating off tonight so its cold for him to work on...

Whats the norm, heating on or off for when they arrive?
It depends on what power flushing equipment he's using. Some machines require the system to be drained some do not.

Just the first one I came across but I'm unaware of a powerflush machine that will work effectively on a drained system? Now Mr Storms....you may enlighten me.

Well I thought that the Fernox Powerflush first thing you would do is drain the system (using the machine)... then fill it again using the machine

Not what you said though. You have to remember that forum members need to be treated with the same degree of incompetence that you show.
