I'm in the process of doing a bungalow loft conversion and am almost at the stage of first fix electrics. I've had to pack out the rafters to a 6" so I can get 100mm of kingspan in and have some air circulation too. I was wanting to add LED spotlights in the ceiling but was worried about drafts coming through them seeing as I'll have to put a hole all the way through the insulation. Is it possible to get a sealed unit that won't cause a draft or is there another alternative

The alternative is not to fit downlights, the problem with these type of units is that uo have to compromise the insulation properties of the ceiling void above. This items need ventilation, so to suffocate them is not a good alternative to prevent drafts.

There might be some that are draught-free, but they won't have anywhere near the thermal performance of 100mm Kingspan.

Why spotlights anyway? Don't you want to light the whole room not spots of it?
