Potterton Prima 80F - replacement

There's nothing wrong with a bit of research.... but Google is not your friend. What is annoying is when the researcher thinks they have covered everything, or uses the "I'm an engineer" gambit expecting it to be some magic password or gateway into cheaper prices....

Unfortunately the OP probably just searched for boilers with a rear flue.

They are very limited and mostly GlowWorm and a Vokera!

An installer, provided he is not tied into a boiler maker's installation program like Worcester do, should have a good knowledge of the market place.

Unfortunately that is usually not the case and most have their favourite.

I usually tell a customer that I can fit any make of boiler and give a quotation with three alternatives, usually cheap, medium and good.

I think its time to replace my 20 year old boiler. It still works, although takes longer to fire up than it used to. I'd like to do it before it fails, and of course a new one ought to be more efficient anyway.

The boiler is on the wall of my 'integrated' garage with my workbench below and I have a tool-rack to the left of it, a shelf to the right, and some drawer units below. Although I could move these I'd prefer not to, so ideally I'd like the new boiler to be in the same place.

So can any of you kind folks recommend a replacement which would slot into the exisiting flue hole and not be any bigger on the inside than the boiler is now?

so you want to replace a decent boiler with white goods?
you will be lucky if your new boiler lasts 5-10 years, factor that into your efficiency calculations

What rubbish, you'll get a lot more than 10 years out of a decent-quality new boiler
