Having new boiler+filter and 3 radiators replaced , fitter wants to powerflush on completion ,is this accepted practice ?

No, it should be done before the new boiler is installed.

Otherwise all the sludge and corroded mess inside the old radiators will be dislodged and pumped through your new boiler.

Thanks that's what I thought , although the fitter is saying the filter will trap the sludge before getting into boiler.

I always PF after the fit. I disconnect the new boiler at the F&R compression fittings and connect the PFM to them. If you PF first, you then have to cleanse again afterwards to remove fluxes etc.

IMO

If he's using a Magnacleanse in circuit with his Powerflush machine, it'll trap just about all the ferrous crap in the first pass. So I wouldn't, personally, dismiss his suggestion as ballcocks, or send him packing, until you have all the details.

If you published the details of what you do for a living on an internet forum, I'm sure there will be some who work in a similar role who will disagree, vehemently, with what you do and how you do it; whether you are a teacher, doctor or truck driver.

It's best bearing this in mind when you read the various posts on here.

its better to do it before, but its still OK to do it after, or even during, i sometimes connect the machine to the flow and return once the boiler is out.
if he's doing it right, the end result will be the same regardless of when its done

why would anyone fit a brand new boiler then potentially flush a load of crap through it?
bonkers IMHO

Hang on! OP do you mean that there are only three new rads being fitted and that will be ALL of the heating system?

Unless you tell us EXACTLY what is going on then we cannot give you the best advice!

If you have lots of old ones and then three new ones being added, then its ideal to power flush the old ones on their own first.

New rads need cleansing with X300, although I expect I am the only one here who ever uses that cleanser. Others don't seem to bother.

New rads need cleansed with 300?? Why?
Proper hot and cold flush on a new system then X100 is all it needs.
If it's old then use a cleanser but bear in mind the magnetic type of filter in these flushing machines does not remove existing cleanser or flux or solder, only magnetite.
We have had thousands of new boilers failing within weeks due to pumps sticking with flux and cleansers causing a sticky paste that siezes impellers.
Installers are using a magnaclean double filter cleaning machine but they are not carrying out proper hot and cold flushes to remove non ferrous and chemicals from water.
