HE30 Seal Identification

op if you changed all those components please please please get you boiler checked by a rgi who has all the proper equipment to check its running safely. can u name the equipment you used to check boiler running safety and provide photos of your equipment , if you can i will tell you the part you need .

You don't have to ask, an RGI will be coming out to service and check over as soon as I've fixed this final seal. I do not possess the equipment required to service some of the items and hence will make no attempt to touch them.

competent - having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully.

According to the law, you do not have to be a RGI to work on a boiler, only competent.

Really? Are you sure? Go on think very carefully.

I'll give you a clue. How do you prove competence in the eyes of the relevant documents?

Enjoy your googling.

Oh and you a very very far from competent. Please send us a picture of all the equipment you possess.

Yet another one that will hopefully disappearing to ensure the gene pool is a little clearer. You crack on fella.

Jon

In no part of the law does it say competency is proven by documents. Competency can vary and be proven by varying means. In this case, I have deemed myself competent and able to demonstrate it, for the procedures I have undertaken. Similarly, I do not deem myself competent in other areas, and have not ventured into them. I've used equipment stated in the boiler service manual for those items I have serviced. I have followed the boiler service manual at all times.

I currently require help to identify a part which is shown but not named in the boiler service manual.
If you were even remotely competent you would be able to identify the part you need.
Ps it is probably 95% not that o ring that's leaking anyway but hey, what would I know?
Ps take a photo from the front of that side of the main heat exchanger( you have the cover off anyway against the gas regs so it doesn't really matter me asking).

Will you be using your boiler in the interim?

I know. But then I do work for ideal.
Best thing that's happened this week on our tech line is everyone is asked for their business or individual gas safe number then we check it online before giving or not giving out advice. (y)

If you sold a product with technical support and restricted access without stating this limitation at point of sale you are in breach of the Sales of Goods act.
So sue me (y)
See how far you get. "Yes judge they wouldn't give me the information that I'm not qualified to use, I did it anyway and killed my family, but I don't need to sit exams to prove I'm competent, I know what I'm doing"
Or the opposite is from judge to us "you gave out information on a technical line to someone who obviously wasn't competent and he killed his family" " but he said he was competent!" " was he gas safe registered as that's the way competency is shown in this company?" "Eh, I don't know I never asked"

You are not obliged to prove somebody's competency before providing a service or information unless that was stated within the terms at point of sale "restriction" or by law. You are obliged to provide good/services within the terms agreed upon at point of sale and for the duration of the contract.

It 100% is that seal. It's ****ing out at anything over 2 bar when CH is on.

I hope you tell the rgi what you have done , i would if i was you because it could cost you.
i bet you caused the leak when changing parts by the sounds of it

I'll take a picture tomorrow as the cover is currently back on - a requirement for fixing the E/F error.

It's been like that for a long time, evidently the last house owner was too cheap/idle to fix it and just kept the pressure down. The retaining plate has badly rusted as has the bottom plate.

If it is your own house I do not think there is anything to stop you from fiddling with your boiler.

Asking for advice on a public forum where pros are requested not to give gas related advice is probably not the best idea.

Picking an argument with RGIs on here is definately not sensible - we argue enough between ourselves.

If you do blow your house up at any time in the future there is now an audit trail here. Will the insurance loss adjusters find it, or the HSE?

Sorry, when you say hex, this is the seal, or nut on the pipe, or the pipe, complete assembly, or some other part?

Thank you!

Seems you legal knowledge is as good as your gas - no such Act any longer
