Hi All,

I have an electrician installing eight outdoor sockets around the garden - because of the cable run, he's using 6mm SWA.

Problem is, we can't find any outdoor sockets than can fit two 6mm cores.

BG say their outdoor Nexus range has a '2 x 6mm terminal capacity' but I bought one and there's no way the cable fits.

I really don't want junction boxes with sockets coming from them, so I'm a little desperate to find a socket that can do the job.

Cheers

Phil

The Crabtree external socket is very sturdy and the connections seem roomy. They are tunnels. I can have a look at one tomorrow if I remember. Their website probably says. I have an idea B&Q carry some Crabtree accessories, if there is no electrical supplier near you.

Edit
the spec says 2 x 4mm. It might be roomy enough to take 2x6mm but you'd need someone to try it.

Thanks for the reply John. I'll take a look at Crabtree.

Just to clarify, I don't mean room in the back box - I mean the copper cores fitting in to the holes in the rear of the socket.

The Crabtree catalogue says terminal capacity is 3x2.5mm² or 2x4mm²
So not an option, I'm afraid.
Personally I do not know of one that is big enough.

Weatherproof socket boxes are usually quite roomy. Why not use a couple of WAGO 773-173
connectors in the box and have single short lengths of 6mm² to the socket terminals?

How has nobody mentioned MK? Hands down the best IP sockets out there anyway

Don't think the OP will mind the price if he's got such an estate!
