Hi. We are creating a patio and we are going to brick over 50 percent of this vent(1960 house) what are options?

Move it? Change it?

cut additional airbricks into the wall to provide additional ventilation.

However it appears that you are planning to raise the ground level against the wall of your house. This is one of the most popular ways of causing damp.

The quality of the old concrete in your photo is very poor, you would do better to break it up and to lower the ground level.

It would have to be a rather large hole, and vermin would get in.

Change that one for 2 plastic ones They take the same space - then even with 50% covered you will still have more airflow than through that old one .

Ok so you are saying a 4 inch wide plastic vent?

So it's just a case of removing that vent and putting a plastic vent ?

Any one link me to a vent?

I think one can buy telescopic plastic vents that would allow the subfloor to be vented at a lower point than the outside soil.

Someone ne told me I could just drill holes in a brickto create a vent, is this true?
No. You would need to knock through both leaves of masonry and sleeve the hole. You could transfer the existing vent onto your new outside (porch) wall using pipe ducting and a new air brick.
