Hi there,

I'm not getting any hot water from the boiler. It happened over the Christmas period and in early January I replaced the diaphragm which was in bad condition (holes and splits everywhere). However, now it's happening again but it's stopped in a matter of three days rather than over a period of a month. It started with having to turn the hot water tap on a lot more than usual to get the boiler to come on to no matter how fast you had the hot water the boiler just literally ignored me.

Could it be the diaphragm again or is it another part causing no hot water?

The one thing I notice though now is that the hot water won't come on whether there is demand for central heating or not. Also, the pin from the valve assembly doesn't come out at all and neither does the top pin.

Please can someone help diagnose what has gone wrong here?

Thanks

Jay

Well if the pin is not moving then the diverter valve is not operating.

But the only way to diagnose boiler faults is at the boiler!

Thanks for your response Agile...

I'll get the valve assembly cracked open sometime over this weekend

Sorry for the late response on this.

I took the dv assembly apart only to find that the pin had jammed somehow. There was nothing wrong with the diaphragm until I tried to peel it off the front brass cover to reveal the pin and spring assembly inside which made a slight tear around the outside.

Thankfully, I ordered another diaphragm kit and replaced it upon refitting the dv assembly. HW is fine so far (touch wood). This time I haven't put the little tiny washer behind the front brass nut as there wasn't one when I dismantled the dv assembly in January.

Hope this helps someone.

Steel I thought you were a great problem solver, dab hand at jigsaw puzzles, pipe strangler from the time you were riding in a Pram, yet you cannot fathom that a regal top engineer does not need to thank anyone.
