The electric cage

Well our internal block walls are only 70mm from paint to paint, so already wires chased into the plaster are getting close to being to shallow on the back of the wall! I'll not sure what someone would screw to the wall needing more than a 50mm screw, maybe something like some kind of wall mounted loo or sink?

Well in our house, when I'm considering the neighbours regarding the noise I'm making with DIY, SWMBO points out that she had to live with plenty of noise from them when they were modernising. There are still some (redundant) pipes to a back boiler in our lounge, and one day they managed to drill into them and let a bit of old manky water out. God knows what they thought they were trying to do - having drilled through 2 bricks (I'm fairly certain there's two bricks between us) to get that far

Goodness! How wide are the blocks, then - 50mm or less?

Kind Regards, John
Yes they seem to be some brittle black blocks 2 inches by 12 high by about 18 wide, I guess they're whatever was cheapest in the 1920s. All built on the floor boards with no extra joists underneath. The original plaster was quite thin lime based but most have been skimmed over now.
