Hi All,

I have brought one of these with the intention to put an led strip in the top:

I currently have a lighting cable form the switch at this point and ideally, would like that to connect to the light and away we go...

I wasn't sure if this is possible or whether I have to use low voltage and hence have a transformer in which case, where would that go? Cavity behind the plaque?

Thanks in advance.

Mains voltage is low voltage. You probably mean extra low voltage?

You will need to find an LED strip that is suitable for outdoor use, and you'll need a suitable LED driver to match. Also one that is suitably IP rated.

excuse my ignorance but if the LED driver is the bulky piece, can I squeeze it into the cavity? I would have preferred led that I can connect straight into if at all possible?

Nice one!
I was hoping that you guys can advise on whether there is such a product (led strip which can connect to the twin and earth cable) without the need for any transformers, etc. as I don't have space for it. I couldn't find anything online.

Okay...
As an example the very first link has a led strip that requires a plug. I don't have provision for this as described above.

Why is T&E not suitable when connecting to exterior lights? Is it not common practice to have T&E poking out of a wall and then connected into an external light?

Maybe, but if you look it is supplied with a plug, and a driver. I'm sure that you could chop the plug off and connect it directly.??

T&E is OK if you go direcly into the back of a socket, but not if it is going to be exposed to sunlight/frost etc..
