Hi all

Just stripping the bathroom and noticed 1 of the walls is wet. It could have been from the flat roof which has now been replaced with a pitched roof, but need to know best way to sort this out.

Was planning on removing tiles, and then having bathroom skimming before refitting. Attached is a picture of the wet and a dry wall

Should I use a heater, a fan or a dehumidifier, or something else?

Thanks in advance

After removing all fixtures from the wet wall, and also removing all chattels from the bathroom:

Remove all tiles & plaster back to brick on the wet wall.
Remove plaster back to brick on the dry wall.
Fully expose the wall plates, the lintel and just below & around the hip rafter - probe the wet looking wall plate for rot.
Whats happening in the ceiling plaster lath hole - is there water damage evident?
Why not post a photo of inside that area, and photos of the walls stripped back to clean bare brick?

Where was the flat roof located?

The hole in the ceiling was due to someone stepping through it when doing the roof.

The flat roof was adjacent to the bathroom. The house had an extension in the 70s over the garage and had a flat roof put on. This leaked in places hence having it changed, but while it was being changed the roofer went off sick and a lot of the house was exposed to the rain we had then. Other parts have dried out, but have been exposed, where this was covered by tiles
