I'm replacing my existing pots, but don't want a cowl on top, will the rain cause a problem?

Thanks

There are 8 million pots out there without cowls and 2.4 million with them. Idiosyncrasies of wind vortices eh.
Who knows....?

Why are you replacing your chimney pots?
Have you had previous difficulties with water penetration or back-drafting down your flues?
