Hi - I have a consumer unit in my static caravan in Greece (I'm posting here as its a UK made van and so all the electrics are UK spec). I want to replace an unused 6 amp MCB for a 32 amp so I can run an extension to my workshop and fit some sockets.

The existing MCB's are all Hager MB type and specifically the existing 32 amp MCB's are hager MB 132A 432706 B 32

I cant seem to find any of these anywhere so would a different hager fit please? Such as a MTN 132A

Thanks

An MTN132 will fit fine, they're just cosmetically different.

You'll find the older style on eBay etc if it bothers you but a new one is about £2

Will the van's supply take the extra load? Indeed, was it designed for the existing load??;)

Hi - I have a consumer unit in my static caravan in Greece (I'm posting here as its a UK made van and so all the electrics are UK spec).
But the caravan is in Greece.

What do the Greek regulations say about this?

They might nevertheless require a particular earthing method.

They might nevertheless require DP breakers.

They might nevertheless have restrictions on exporting the earth.

They might nevertheless not allow 32A socket circuits.

To be honest guys, the regs are somewhat "loose" in Greece...and its on my own land
The van (its a 3 bed mobile home in fact) is hooked up via to a self installed solar system (yes, I am quite proud of it) and the mains grid. I use a generator backup switching unit to switch between the power sources - free solar by day, mains grid when needed at night, or when I want to use any hefty kit that my solar system cant supply (its only a 1000w inverter). The mains connection was by the power company so I would hope that would be done correctly. I'm going to swap out the unused 6 amp MCB for a 32 amp and then run a cable from it to my workshop to feed another small consumer unit (this will power some sockets, lighting and pumps for fountains etc). I would be interested in any feedback

Hi, i thought the regulations in Greece required DP MCB's to be fitted as standard ?

Thanks,

DS

Well, its a British built mobile home that are for sale in Greece everywhere and contain a UK spec consumer unit (along with UK sockets etc). Greece does not produce mobile homes and sell many UK imports so (other than having it completely re-wired to Greek regs) I guess my option is to install to UK standard (its not a disrepect or disregard of Greek regs). Believe me, I have seen some very "interesting" electrical installations over there that would feature in a lot of competent installers nightmares

And the Greek electricians (authorised by the public power company) had no problem hooking my van up using said UK consumer unit with single pole breakers
