That's just to demonstrate there's a joint. Rather than exact position . I was quoted 320 from a renound chippy

Don't have a joint in the wet area or indeed in the section facing you. Return the worktops you have and get a 4m & 3m.

Does the price you have been quoted include cutting two mitred joints, biscuits jointed and bolted, routing sink and hob positions, scribing/cutting to wall profile if needed, fitting and sealing?

Don't buy from Holden then , hundreds of other companies do worktops at 4m+

I've just fitted our kitchen and I got a chippy to cut two corner joints (horseshoe kitchen) Actually, the worktops had a manufacturers fault but I didnt see until the tops had been cut and jointed and sent them back for a refund. Anyway, bought more worktop (expensive Duropal this type as opposed to BQ weetabix) and this time I jointed them and fitted myself - I work in a wood related trade and was being lazy with the first fitting preffering to pay a pro as I hadnt done worktop joints before. My joints ended up fine. BUT and there is huge but....this job has opened my eyes to kitchen fitting and worktop fitting in particular. If I was in the fitting trade, I would NOT want to fit worktops unless as part of a total fit. Too much liability for damaging the tops and not enough remuneration for taking that risk. If I was quoting I would quote a daft price and it prob be more than £320. I cant see any good fitter/ chippie who has loads of work wanting to get involved with doing such a job almost at any price. If someone jumps at fitting worktops for a good price, I'd be asking why.....

your overall dimension of 4450 includes the two 600 ends of the returns which means you need 3250 plus male parts of the mitres which are 40mm each end if using a Trend jig so total of 3330mm for the longest section.

if my maths are correct:unsure:

why is there a join at all in the longest one?

ok i appreciate its not a ideal - but if i use a 3.6 metre oak laminate worktop - would it look ok? i under stand on long side we have 2 joints which would be visible

I'm not understanding the issue here, sure I'm missing something obvious:) the two joints at each end perfectly normal. Make sure masons mitres not 45deg mitres.

Because this states that don't not to have it on length facing you.

My post means don't have a joint along the section with your sink in it. A mitred joint at either or both ends is perfectly acceptable (and normal).

My original comment related to the sketch in your OP showing a joint just to the left of the sink position.
