Does anyone sell a flat metal cover for a standard single back box that sits flush with the front edge of the box, or preferably sits just inside it?

I intend to skim over it. Yes, I know the rules.

I could probably make one but I'd have to find a suitable bit of metal in a skip first....

Some ranges of metal clad accessories are only 76mm square, but still with 60.3mm screw centres, look how close the screw holes are to the edges compared to a normal accessory...

...but they always have that raised, radius-ed perimeter though. Just hammer the edges flat I guess, seeing as it's being plastered over.

Gaz :)

I made some cut from upvc facia board and tapered the back enough for the face to stick out to, hopefully near the finished line of the plaster....plasterer had not seen anything like it and thought they were spot on .

sorry got the wrong end of the stick, I thought you wanted to cover boxes while skimming.

It has occurred to me that I could saw the sides off another back box and would have a piece of metal of the right size!
Holes are in the wrong places though.

Yes I have.

Now, I would like to hear, from you please, why the presence of a terminal block joining live cables in the box means he should not be plastering over it.

To avoid any possibility of doubt, I should remind you that the requirement to refer only to regulations, and not to some of your own febrile ideas is still in force.

.

O for gawds sake. If it is covered over no one knows the cables are there and they may not be in a SAFE ZONE.

They may not be.

But that is not an issue under discussion.

You said:

In which case he should not be plastering over it.

No doubt whatsoever that the concern is live cables being joined in the box, and nothing to do with where any cables might be.

So, again, please explain why he should not plaster over it.

Feel free to refer only to regulations, and not to any of your own febrile ideas.
