"Caring for cows
All our energy is focused on keeping our cows comfortable and healthy.
_T5C4836.jpg
We like to see our cows have access to pasture but obviously protect them from the extremes of weather when it is either very warm or wet and cold. We also keep cows inside after they have calved so that we can pamper them and tend to their every need. When they are in our barns they have super comfortable deep sand beds to lie on and plenty of space to walk around and socialise. "

Well that's all right then

Or maybe not....

That treatment is bad and I do not support it.

Milk (and food in general) is cheap because we won't pay more for it.

If we want lots of room for animals to live in, we have to pay extra for it.

The only alternative to dairy is plant-derived dairy alternatives.

Disgraceful imho

pigs are also kept in similar circumstance afaik .

veal farming

the fur trade

concentration camps for animals

A dairy cows life is well shortened when they are housed 24/7 and milked 3 times per day.
It puts such a strain on their system and the farmer discards them when the productivity drops. A lot of bull calves are shot at birth by the farmer.
I've seen 60 or 70 cows stampeding inside their enclosure. These were cows that were used to being let out to grass but were housed 24/7 to boost the production.
Managed to close a gate and stop them before any of them were injured.
The longer the cow is at grass, the less slurry the farmer has to haul back to the fields and the less grass he has to haul back to the farm to feed them.
Housing them 24/7 seems a backward step when you consider the price of fuel and machinery.
Have no idea how the numbers stack up. It just seems totally counter productive.
But your right its the animal that suffers.

I just had a massive homemade burger (rare as you like of course) made with a good bit of chuck from my local butcher, washed down with a pint of the white stuff, awesome! When, as a world, we iron out child abuse, genocide, poverty and Justin Bieber and the like I'll start worrying about animal welfare.

Arse end had a silly thought, as usual, and decided to commit it to public scrutiny.
You cannot complain if someone then scrutinises his silly thought.
For starters:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodandd...770703/Why-its-time-to-welcome-back-veal.html

In the UK, farming animals to kill them for their fur was banned and finally phased out in 2002.

You have presumed that Trans is only talking about fur in the UK. Also fur can still be imported into the UK so we still play a part in the cruel practice.

As your article says about welcoming veal back - it's not all farmers who are kind, nor do hotels and restaurants always buy British veal and can be part of the cruelty.

I think you should stop being obsessed by Trans's posts and looking for faults that aren't there. The UK, although is better than a lot of countries, farmers can and are still cruel to their animals and we still import animals that do not have to follow our guidelines, so we are still very much part of the problem. If you'd done better research than your selective research you would've seen that for yourself.
I think you owe Trans an apology, but I know you're not a decent enough person to do that.

As John's post was about UK trade. It is a reasonable assumption. Unless, of course arse end cannot make the distinction?

Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who is the biggest hypocrite of us all?

The UK, although is better than a lot of countries,
Ah, we are agreed we are talking about UK farming.

I have already done far more research than arse end is capable of conceiving.

I think you owe Trans an apology, but I know you're not a decent enough person to do that.
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
If arse end apologises for all of his lies, deceit, and fantasy, and stops his repetitive, persistent and habitual lying, I will apologise. :ROFLMAO:
I would also expect you to stop jumping to his defence for his habitual lying and deceiving, unless he likes hiding behind your skirts. Such is his ability to lie and deceive, it would not surprise me if he throws you a "please help me. I am disabled." plea.:LOL:

I think you need to learn how to use the quote button.

You have got it wrong. I didn't think you were man enough to admit it.

And there we go, Himmy when proven wrong, goes onto part where he just writes irrelevant posts and tries (and fails) to insult.

For someone who is obsessed with proving Trans wrong, I would've thought the sensible thing would be to do your own research before accusing him of being incorrect. That's so you don't come over as a hypocrite.

As I said, you got it wrong.
