Seems the female part of this has corroded away. Anyone think of an easy fix?

I think you're giving yourself some bother here, but maybe an expansion bolt could help you out?
Araldite is fine, but won't hold under very high temperatures.
John :)

My own theory was to insert one of the larger hollow wall fixings into the tube, and tighten the screw so that the thing just grips and doesn't fall away.....then, screw out and pass it (with a washer) through the BBQ dome - then tighten away.
It'll work to some degree, I guess as the fixing expands within the tube.

There are threaded tube inserts like this...

...for fixing to a hollow tube, but they seem to be expensive and impossible to buy just one on further investigation!

I think I'd buy a large (M12 maybe) coupler nut to go in the tube...

then drill a hole sideways through the tube and through the coupler nut to put a thin (say M6) nut and bolt across-ways. Drill through at one end, so it leaves a decent amount of thread to put a short bolt in, from inside the bowl.

Ideally all in stainless steel, but drilling that will be difficult. Depends on how long you want this repair to last really.

A quick drawing to make it clearer, my description wasn't great!

Can't see that not working and much simpler Diy option than having to drill things?
