why shouldn't it as the fault can be related ,plus you don't know what the insurance procedure is so your comment is unfounded and wrong and your assuming again . fooking hindsight is fooking lovely isn't it

firebladerrw I've replace quite a few flow switches on this boiler for which the paddle is the weak point , you may have a bigger problem but you need a multimeter and know how to use it to know this problem , if you do let me know . other than that i would be looking at the pump but then again you need a multimeter to go any further relating to this fault as it could lie elsewhere .

how long does the lockout light come on when the firing sequence starts ???

by the way its a shyte boiler as its related to the promax SL

It's goes instantly to lock out. It doesn't start the ignition sequence at all. Flow switch has been replaced as per above.

I wouldn't bother with the guy above, he's what is known as a forum troll. He adds nothing to the site except innuendo and snide comment, without any thought of who he is addressing,
. Some of us have more qualifications than a two week gas safety course, which of course is mandatory if you are actually going to work on a gas appliance, which I'm not. This whole thread is to help my engineer who may not be brilliant, but he has a gas safety certificate...

I'm limited to what i can say as i suspect you may understand because you don't sound like an idiot


the PCB's on these are weak to say the least and can be intermittent . need to see if their is 230v going to the pump or short circuit/ohms resistance ??????, what are the readings ? . whats the pressure showing ( system ) on the dial but these dials are shyte and can give false readings tbh also blockages/flow problems . also check continuity on unplugged ( from PCB ) flow switch ( can't remember witch plug on pcb to be honest ), if so, a PCB is your best bet . i can't give any further tips for now as for forum rules

Very helpful thanks. I think I may have uncovered the problem, I won't go into details for fear of offending the easily offended, but it's a non gas, system flow problem. But I'll let the engineer effect the repair tomorrow

Thank you for all the inputs, it has helped immensely in trying to track down the issue. Longer term, I may get rid of the boiler, therefore recommendations for free standing combi's would be welcome!

I won't lose sleep over it I've more things to worry about, like getting my heating and hot water working again. After all, isn't this what this site was for?
