Fence job not happy with?

I helped a friend on this job. We just removed the old posts and panels and replaced them. Trouble is the concrete posts the wooden posts are attached to aren't plum so our new posts weren't plum either. Also we used filler pieces because panels were too small like the previous ones . The trellises were the old ones put on new panels.

Are there better ways of dealing with these 2 problems?

what height are they??
you increase the height by about 40% you will double the wind load
you are also restricted to 2m without planning permission

If the old posts aren't plumb, then sometimes you have to bite the bullet, and do the whole job properly. In the first 2 pictures, the lowere panel that's gone in, could have been cut back. You'd take off the support braces, cut the panel to the size you want, then nail the brace pieces back on.

You definitely would have better advised to take the whole lot out and start from scratch.
You have inherited a bad job which the winter winds will damage or flatten and spending money on something that is likely to fail in the near future is a waste of effort. Of course, if money is tight and it is intended as a make do job then that's fine but I would seriously think about doing the job properly.

I agree. Neither of us were happy with the job. Neither the customer. Felt embarrassed. . The old concrete posts were in massive concrete blocks. To smash through that and put in new posts would have been a job and a half. She paid £200 labour and 150 for new panels.. One days work. God knows how long it would have taken if we had got rid of old posts.
We didn't dig any holes but if u do is there a machine which can help u do it?

Use a titan breaker that the hosts sell for about £150. Roughy half hour a post taking it out maybe longer if it’s being a woman lol. For £200 labour I would of expected the old concrete posts remove imho and if I was the customer I would of refused to pay

A good contractor would have realised there was a problem, and discussed it with the customer to find a solution, even if that meant another days work. Fitting the panels like that was just shoddy work.
