Public sector pay freeze.

I don't understand, who are they? - but does it make a difference?

If the population, some or all, has no pay rise, then less will be spent on the services of the self-employed and everything else.

if the workers get less wages, the company will continue to make as much money as it can. The extra profits will end up in the pockets of the shareholders, or more likely the directors and senior managers.

For example:
"Shares in JD Wetherspoon jumped 12.4% by the close, as the pub group reported a rise in full-year sales and profits.
In the year to 30 July, profits before exceptional items rose 27.6% to £102.8m with total sales up 4.1% to £1.66bn.
Like-for-like sales - which strip out the impact of pub openings and closures - rose 4%, and are up 6.1% since the start of August."

"J D Wetherspoon PLC (JDW:LSE) set a new 52-week high during Monday's trading session when it reached 1,291.00. Over this period, the share price is up 33.02%."

Five years ago the share price was about £5

Can anyone tell me how much the pay of bar staff has gone up?

The pro-Brexit boss of Wetherspoons moans about the minimum wage going up. This gives a clue of his pay policy.

Here's a funny thing

Foster carers, they are having pay restricted , but are self employed, worst of both worlds.

self employed people are not employed by the public sector. They have customers so to speak, those customer may or may not agree to higher rates.

How does this affect self employed?
[QUOT]Foster carers, they are having pay restricted , but are self employed, worst of both worlds.[/QUOTE]

Foster careres aren't self employed, they are paid by the state, so they'll get their "wages" frozen, or increased in the same way that all the other public sector workers do.

Totally incorrect , foster careers are self employed. They are paid by local councils or private companies.

Sorry was referring to those self employed in the public sector.

is this a bit crytic lol??
public sector workers are employed by the government and self employed are not
do you mean self employed bidding for public sector contracts ??
