The correct term should be anti-Jewish and not anti-Semitic, there are 100's of millions of Semites in the world and most of them are not Jewish.
Most Israelis are of Eastern European origin and have very little genetic connection to the Middle East, although DNA testing has shown that European Jews have some traces of Middle Eastern DNA on the paternal side, the bulk of their DNA is Eastern European mostly from the maternal side and in the Jewish religion it is the maternal side which counts, basically if you have a Jewish mother then you are considered Jewish even if your mother is an atheist or practising another religion.
A few years ago a private Jewish school in the South of England was convicted of racial discrimination and not religious discrimination because they refused entry to the son of a Jewish man and his Catholic wife while allowing entry to the son of a non Jewish man and his wife who had been born Jewish but had been raised a Catholic.
Courts make mistakes; probably fuelled by political correctness - assuming, that is, they were not of a different race.

Thank you fo that little piece Vinty; I was aware of the Jewish mother bit, but had no idea on the Semetic aspect of this debate. It's nice to see that someone here can add to the debate, rather than show how clever they are.
