Is it possible to fit scaffolding into this space?

I don’t suggest for a second they give 2 hoots about neighbours. They are a money making machine.

Why would they contact you? You’re of no inconvenience to them.

You need to accept your predicament and work towards the best solution for you, which involves you liaising with them and working with them if they’ll allow you. Not trying to block a bit of poxy scaffold in your alley. A minor inconvenience to them. Like a fly buzzing round. They’ll swat you away.

With regards to my neighbour not agreeing to my scaffold ( which they were fine with being reasonable neighbours) the roofers would have had a tricky job on that side but still managed it.

I’d have then posted dog sh1t through their letter box.

I surely have the law on my side in this matter. How would you feel if a someone parked their car right in front of your drive and stopped you using it? How is that scenario different to mine?

Anyway, I think I have established that I have right of access along the lane and the builders do not. So legally they have no right to deny me access.

What I still don't have a definitive answer about is whether or not scaffolding is feasible at that height on their side of the wall only.

it will happen regardless off your actions
why do you want the building work to take longer
surely the quicker they get it finished the less disruption you will have??

To be honest my advice is focus on the air con as that's the long term issue. Scaffolding if you really need the access they will cantilever it over. They may well do that as standard as the architect might specify it anyway.

It seems to me you a very stressed about this. Understandable. I have only one more suggestion for you. Take some deep breaths and work out what is important to you long term. Focus on that. If it’s all too much sell up and move. You’ll probably loose money, but that’s life. Put this scaffolding nonsense out of your head. You're barking up the wrong tree.

I don't think you would be allowed to cantilever over the path either without permission.

Why not use your own for that personal touch? The technical term for it is PTLB.
Nice thought. I’ll remember that when I have a neighbourly dispute. No point trying to resolve. A posted chod should sort it.

Not to derail the original thread, but I heard it's best to light it on fire and leave it outside. Then it's their decision to stamp on it.(y)

I thought if you froze it you could roll it to the bottom of the stairs and catch them barefoot.

I wonder if my local CoOp has a letterbox?

Let’s all dirty protest our local Co-op stores. Might make the news and we can get this scaffolding saga sorted once and for all.
