Leaking Roof or Condensation?

Just thought I would ask for some advice here before wasting a roofers time coming to check.

Just been up into the loft to get some boxes down and noticed that some of them have damp patches on them. Went back up and had a look around and found water drops on the loft boards scattered around the whole loft.

On checking the membrane it appears to be wet - not saturated, but it slightly damp to touch - more so at one end of the loft than the other. However at the other end there's a fair bit of white mood bloom.

Nothing is saturated with water so I don't know if its just condensation or if the membrane has started to fail.

Lack of ventilation in the loft, combined with possibly not enough loft insulation.

I suspect roofers hate ( or love) a really cold spell just over 12 days before Christmas when people venture into the lofts.

Open up the laps in the felt with some wooden wedges or blocks.

Correct - condensation (black spot mould) season.

Just like the first warm sun of Spring after a cold wet Winter produces efflorescence (brickies nightmare) season.

great, thanks a lot guys for putting my mind at ease.

currently theres double layered insulation up there, but also a lot of crap that we need to throw out... will clear it out and see if we can increase air circulation a bit
