On a single story (lean to) style extension with 8x2 4.2 m joists at 16 degree pitch, what size ridge board would people use and how would you fasten it to the wall. (I ve had 3 different joiners all with different methods quoted)
Also how would you fix the joists to said ridge board. Again differing methods quoted.
Thanks

There are a few ways to join common rafters to a wall plate.

With such a low pitch, I would suggest notching out the rafter ends to create a tenon. Either form cut outs on an 8 x 2 or 10 x 2 wall plate. Or you could fit a 10 x 2 wall plate, Screw on a 5 x 2 flush to the bottom so the notched rafters sit on the 5 x 2.

I guess joist hangers would work, notch out the bottom of the rafters for a seat cut.

Unfortunately not

How about fastening the wall plate to the existing wall. Rawlbolts or anchor fixings??

I would go with a 6x2" wall plate, as per Woody
notch/seat cut rafters then 6mm pilot hole rafters at top and
then drill straight through into masonary and fix 182mm
rapier star fixings or similar. Adding a few 5" galv nail skewed were appropriate.

Woody, I meant resin fixings.
I gather u de got for the expansive bolts, not resin.

Well spotted Woody!
That guy must get a lot of work because I see that
that detail a lot up my way

The batten info is wrong as well isn't it?
That's counter battens actually, those sizes would be ok for counter battens if it was full fill rigid insulation. However since it's not I'm not sure why they specified counter battens. The arrow is a bit misleading though where it's pointing.
Maybe just copied and pasted from someone else's drawings?
