Hi,

I bought a few of these strainer kits at the start of a kitchen project, and now that I've worked out which sinks are being fitted etc, it turns out that I don't need the overflow feed on one of them. The thread measures around 35mm outside diameter. Do I stand a chance of getting a cap for it to blank it off or do I just need write it off? I still have the compression fitting and conical washer for it, so a ~25mm blanking plug would also do. Am I likely to be able to find one? (i can't see any that small at the obvious online retailers)

Thanks

Gary

Probably easier to get a basket strainer waste from Screwfix - number 97562 - without overflow;) about £7

As endecotp says, use the screw/nut part that screws onto the thread and bin the flexi hose. Make up a plastic disc of the right size and place it in the nut with some silicone around the endge of the disc. Screw it on and wait for silicone to set.

Is it the same size as the washing machine connection at the bottom left of your photo? If so, searching for "appliance blanking" seems to get useful results like the above.

I'll get the vernier on it tonight and confirm. Hopefully you're right, in which case it seems pretty ubiquitous at £1.50 incl postage.

I did also consider using the nut and pipe that I have to connect it to the washing machine connection on the other side, but I couldn't bring myself to do it...

Genius idea.

Problem solved. Unfortunately the thread didn't match the appliance thread on the other side, but I managed to find some 25mm plastic bar in the garage that fits a treat.
