Hi All,

just struggle to understand how to change 1 gang switch to dimmer, seems easy but it's not working.

Went thru some posts here and still nothing.

My house is new build and wiring it's looped at switches.

the 2 browns that are together (that's the live feed/loop ) into C, the other brown (the switched live to the lamp) into L1 should work - what did you do?

What type and rating of lamp are you trying to dim?

Yes this is what I have done 2 browns ( live ) went to C and other brown went to L1.

What type of lamp is that (LED, CFL etc)? , and what is the power rating? I can't tell from you photo. Those two things are critical to the selection of the type of dimmer. If it's LED, it may well need a specific type of (LED compatible) dimmer. If it's CFL it may be that the power rating is below the minimum power rating of the dimmer - you need to compare the specs.

It would also have worked the other way round, so....

Jacob - assuming that you've screwed onto copper, and not the insulation, then either the dimmer is faulty, or the grow-lamp is faulty, or there's an incompatibility.

Does the light work on a regular switch?

And I hate to ask this, but you have pressed the dimmer knob as well as twiddled it?

I knew it was an LED dimmer.

But I didn't twig, yesterday, that this almost certainly means it's not an LED light.
