Hi, i'm looking to do side by side fencing like the image attached. Is there a proper name for it, or just side by side?

Also, what wood would be suitable, or what type of wood is in the image?

Thanks

It's just posts, rails, and boards nailed on. The only problem with such a small gap is you'd have to be very picky with the boards - any wonkiness will show up.
I just built a similar fence but with a 2" gap between the boards.

Any photos?

Is there a recommended board? Just debating the cost difference between that or single planks of featheredge. Also, concerned that when the wood shrinks, gaps may appear unless treated wood would not cause this as much?

All the wood is larch. Posts are 4x4, rails are 4x2, and the boards are 2nd grade 150mm. That's a 2" gap, you can obviously set it at whatever you want

Hi chaps, scbk, how much is larch in you example pls, and is it treated?
Ta.

I think all the timber was about 300 inc vat, the fence was about 20m long

That's direct from the sawmill so its not treated, but IMHO it will last at least as long as the standard "treated" spruce from builders merchants etc
If you want it to last longer the best thing for it is creosote.

I really think this style of fencing looks smart, but I do find over time it warps. It can leave large gaps between panels, and lose some privacy.
