What to do with my rear garden

I am just looking for some ideas what to do with my rear garden.
I don't really want to have to spend thousands of pounds to get someone in to lay turf for me.

The ground is very uneven and may have some big stones in where the path used to be.
What machinery could I get ? considering I am a little office worker weighing 10 stone !!

Depending on cost I would consider knocking down the lean-to and creating a patio.

Do you actually like gardening? Because that's quite important when designing a garden from scratch. No point in spending out on plants etc if you're not going to look after them. Anyway, rip the whole of it up and start again? Looks like your lawn is full of weeds and patchy, and if your lawn is uneven and full of stones then for me, I'd start again. Dig it up, level the ground then re-turf. Is your garden North facing? If so, grass (and some plants) have a problem growing well in North facing gardens. You can get grasses that cope better in the shade. If the sun only hits the back of your house in high summer then prob best to patio that area.

Your lean-to is an eyesore. I'd get rid of it if it was mine, or at the very least, give it a lick of paint and sort the roof!

Have a look at what your neighbours have for some inspiration.

What do you actually want? A green space to play football? A botanic garden? Grow your own veg?

I'd break up that concrete and patio it full with out to where the concrete is now.

I'd rotivate the lawn and re-turf it.

Then fit a hot tub/bar/shag pad down the bottom end.

OK I need some advice what type of rotivator to use can anyone suggest one?

The ground doesn't look too bad. If you're on a tight budget (save the money for the lean to) - cut the grass regularly and it will come good in the end. Remove stones/rubbish as you go, and fill any dips with soil

I spent ages levelling our rear lawn and bought top quality turf rolls. 8 years down the line the dandelions have made a mess of it and we had moles in over winter..

oh Ive actually got one like this but the ground is so hard it just seems to bounce off it

Yep manually here too into a big heap then cived all the crap out until nice top soil
