I'm looking to install a grohe rain shower duo because my wife wants to be able to clean her flaps at the same time as having the rain shower on (seriously).

Looking at the indtallation video

Right at the start they show a 1/2" extension which is then trimmed to match the wall thickness.

Ive found lots of extensions which come to a particular length. Can these be cut back a few mm if required on the female end or is there are particular fitting for this?

I've fitted a grohe wall hung loo and I'm going to fit pretty much the same shower. generally as above they will supply everything you need to resolve any wall thickness issues, although you might have to get all the parts (sometimes the wall box is one part, the thermostat/dial is another, and the shower back box, shower head, etc you get the idea..) The instructions are about as much good as ikea ones, but in the end the quality is excellent. Sometimes the printed/downloadable instructions are more clear and have part numbers, so check both.

I would have thought they'd come with the shower, but according to grohe:
"
We can confirm that these are 1/2" BSP connections that can be purchase from a plumbers merchant as they don't come with the shower."

That's their reply from customer services...

are they talking about the wall plate elbows or the extension pieces there? wall plate elbow is just a standard part so I can see that not being included.
I've had a quick look and none of it makes sense! maybe they really just mean make sure it's flush with the wall however you do it.
I watched that video for the loo about 30 times before I was confident, it's not easy to understand!

The extensions in the video are called 1/2 inch shank extensions,They can be either trimmed on the female side or male side depending on the purchased item.

Like the video they are American .

why not fit and secure by using Uk 1/2 inch female fittings in the wall and tile around them fit the supplied grohe offset adaptors and the rest of the kit.

That shower needs very good constant water pressure & flow (y)

1/2" male to female Extension??

Wow! Just try searching for that on pornhub

I've ordered some 30mm and 40mm extensions which should be enough. I'm putting some board insulation on the walls which so I kind of need some form of extension. Rough calc shows it should be the right length.

Yeah I've watched that charming young lady install the shower, one of those things to stick on whilst I'm looking for my 1/2" extension

Was going to use loctite 55 rather than hemp and paste as I've heard good things about it.
