Spilled some paint on patio steps so tried to get as much up as possible with cloths then put hose on it with a metal brush. It ran into tarmac pavement but seemed to get rid of it all with the hose running endless water on it. What do u do if u spill inside a house or on other places? This is second time I've dropped a can of paint. Is the best way to gaffer tape the can's top on?

Also, I am doing an iron gate and it's old and rusty as he'll. Been using a metal brush on drill to get flakes off. Is this best way or should I pressure wash it?

It might be safer to decant the paint in to a paint kettle with a lid. If you drop that, you will be dropping a much smaller volume of paint.

it was quite a small can. Wrapping gaffer tape around it an OK idea?

I previously dropped some sealant onto tarmac. Throw all tools and paint into a flexi bucket so at times stuff falls out when I am carrying it. If i spill inside is it a case of using towels first then what?

start by scraping up as much as you can and dump it into a disposable container. Sometimes the paint tin is best. Then use absorbent paper to soak up and wipe up what you can.

If it's a water-based paint you can then wash and sponge it clean with water. You may need to agitate with a brush.

For oil-based paint, brush cleaner will break it up so it can be cleaned off.

A few paints such as Hammerite or car paints will need a special thinners. Keep it off your skin.

Thinners are usually flammable and damaging to health, so clean up and ventilate thoroughly.

Sorry, I have had a bad day that included having to pay to returns tools to a scumbag "builder" that has stolen my GF's £3K deposit.

In what way would the gaffer tape help?

If you have a 1l tin (for example), pour 100ml in to an old hacked milk (read: plastic) bottle.

if you were to knock it over you (may or may not have) time to pick it up before it makes a proper mess.

Sorry Purple Road, I am currently trying to wind down from one of those "why the f**k did my GF pay some d**k on one of those check a trade sites to work at our place, and now that she has has clearly lost £3K, why am i the guy that has to spend two hours to return the tools to the scumbag.

/rantOver (for now)....

Come on Opps, open a new tread about your mad girlfriend and rouge builder.

Fair play, a typo on my behalf.

Nevertheless when you have a S*!t bag intimidating your family (after stealing from them), one's sense of humour tends to take a back seat, as does ones' focus on spelling.
