I assumed you meant the underlying reason had some relevance not merely that it's illegal. Is also illegal to use compression fitting and copper pipe as an electrical conductor in an office building, but that's also hardly relevant
Push fit connectors properly installed are miles better than a compression fitting. You're thinking based on hunches and assumptions, that somehow metal is better than plastic. A push fit connection once properly installed will _not leak_ and will probably outlive you. Those compression fittings could be weeping within a year.
