I want to put an extra lock on the inside of my front door. The door and frame are uPVC. Can I drill/screw into this safely, and if so, is there a special bit I should be using?
Thanks

Any cheap drill bit will manage uPVC.

However what exactly are you intending to fit - attaching a lock to just the uPVC will achieve nothing, the material is far too soft and the lock could easily be busted off in two seconds.

Thanks for the info. So to make the door extra secure, what are my options?

If you have multi-point locking its already fairly secure and no point adding extra locks.
The 2 weak points are:
1. glass/panels. Consider upgrading to laminated glass and or steel reinforced panels.
2. the euro cylinder lock (most likely a cheap £3 Chinese one that can be broken into in 10 seconds). Upgrade to a 3* or diamond security cylinder a.s.a.p.
