What would happen if you used Zinsser Bin and a water leak reocurred?

Or any stain blocker/oil-based undercoat etc

Would a stain from the water leak simply appear again in the same place?

Or would the water be "trapped" behind the Zinsser Bin and need to find somewhere else to escape?

I had this in a property many years ago, the Bin acts as a barrier, so whilst the water will be trapped behind the barrier, it will divert elsewhere, so if you are going to use a barrier, do a reasonable large area so there will be no/minimal leakage

Has the leak stopped? If so, let the stain come all the way through before you do anything
