I need to get some stuff to protect the bricks on a build where part of it will act as a retaining wall.

What’s recommended?

1 part cement : 382 parts sand with a gallon of plasticiser.
Look at any garage or wall that abuts a mound of soil and the aggressive content of the (when wet) soil causes all sorts of bad stuff to appear via bloom, usually through the mortar joints. A membrane is a must Tone.

Thanks all, will look for some membrane to put down before backfilling
