Clumps of paint and how to prevent them when using a roller

I haven't done much decorating, and in my latest attempt a few of these clumps of paint formed.

(The paint is still drying, which I assume why there's a dark circular ring around it)

I used a Harris roller and Dulux paint.

What are these called and how do I prevent them happening?

Looks like semi dried paint from the rim of the can fallen into the tin.
strain through an old pair of tights and ensure any in the tray or roller is removed.

I agree with the above (alternatively it might have been paint that dried in the roller tray).

I periodically spray tins, trays and rollers with a water sprayer- especially on warm days.

If you wet the clump you might be able to scrape it off.

yeah, I get these, especially when using an already opened tin. So far I have managed with just removing them when I see them and painting over. Not had to strain yet.
Unless it is in a really obvious place I'd forget about it - by the time furniture and pictures are up, it might be hidden anyway?

I had the misfortune of using mixed Crown Trade matt emulsion earlier this year. The tins are plastic and with every single one, the thick white paint in lid would slide back into the paint. You'd be rolling a cream wall and all of a sudden the roller would pick up some of the white paint and you'd have white spots all over the walls.

I did tell the staff at the Crown Trade centre, they just shrugged. I'll stick to Dulux Trade in future.

yeah, I only use Delux now. Tried something else once and was a nightmare. Worth paying extra for an easier job.
