Still keepin' the auld 28 going but it's getting noisy when heating the central system; quiet, almost silent when heating water. I suspect the pump is on the way out. Any suggestions on how I check? Would be much obliged for any input.

The diverter valve was serviced last Autumn but by me, a DIYer. Could I have done something wrong? How do I check?

no if everything is working OK you have done it right, not really a hard job, when you say the boiler is kettling is it just for a min or so and settles down or does it do it for a while ? does the boiler modulate to low flame or go off and then come back on ?

The noise is continuous with the CH being on, turn on a tap and its stops, turn off the tap and it starts. Switch to HW only and its stops. The frequency of the noise is also constant.

sorry just came to me, when you serviced the diverter valve did you change the shuttle assembly ? when you say kettling do you mean a high pitched screetching , kettling is exactly that sounds like a kettle boiling

Doesn't sound like a high-pitched screeching more like a pan of water boiling. Could I try uploading a file of the sound?

Yes do that but it sounds like you have got it wrong with the diverter valve shuttle replacement, if you only used part of the kit or got the two O rings mixed that would cause it

Can't attach mp4 file, I am afraid.

if it stops when you run the HW it is definately diverter valve orientated , that is most definately not Kettling

From the short audio clip,it sounds more mechanical that kettling, its almost as if something is bobbin around inside the boiler.

They are good boilers but at times need an expert to repair them
