Hello,

I have googled this and can't find a supplier. I am building offices for a customer, the walls are going to be OSB inside and out, they want OSB doors as well to give a stream lined look. Does anybody know of a supplier for a solid osb door or maybe give me some ideas of how to make one?

I did suggest FLB with an OSB board but they weren't keen "shame"...

Thanks in advance.

Cheers Foxhole,

Yes, but they want the door to look like solid osb both sides.

I was pondering buying a ply flush door and cladding it in 9mm osb, but to get a good seamless finish on the door sides would be difficult. Hypothetically if I were to cut the boards 18mm bigger than there desired sizes using a 45 degree cut, this would give a better seamless finish, but is a ball ache tbh and would leave a sharp external bitty edge....

Hmmmmm

I cant see how OSB edges/corners are going to last very long, let alone the hinge screws holding.

I would be tempted to do 9mm or 11mm and a rebate lipping all round so the solid wood is only say 5mm thick at the edge.

Or just glue up 18mm -11mm- 18mm for a 47mm thick door....... or similar, itll all be OSB board then!

How lovely -OSB walls :ROFLMAO: how very trendy.

You should suggest OSB walls and scaffold plank doors

You could laminate three sheets of 9mm osb screwed and glued .Will need T hinges to cope with no solid timber at edges .

Or as mentioned scaffold plank door like this .

Thank Notch7,

I think I forgot to mention that ceilings are going to be osb as well with led strip lighting around the edges.
The meeting room table will be scaffold boards "whoop whoop" and the chairs made from regurgitated pallets.....
But in fairness this is the showroom and shop of a company that supplies wood finishes.....:ROFLMAO:

Osb door clad with pallet timber?

Cheers Foxhole and Notch7.

Scaffold Plank L&B Doors very good idea.

I'll go back to them and say "over the weekend I came up with this fantastic idea":LOL::LOL:, not really, thank you.

Do they care about building regs re flamable wall linings?

It sounds absolutely horrendous - but then my taste isn't always the same as the designer's (I'm happy to say). Hopefully the door won't need to be fire rated.

I think you're right. Regs or no I think it should all be given 2 or 3 coats of intumescent clear coating, something like Envirograf unless they do a suitable finish themselves.

I'm currently working in an OSB clad office. The panels are fixed to the walls with visible torx screws for extra hipster effect!

If it helps you, the internal doors are OSB both sides with clear pine lipping on all four sides. The lipping is only about 5mm thick and rounded off, so barely visible.

It sounds like crap! And now I sound like my dad....... :(

Calm down dear,

The whole lot doors and all are being coated in a intumescent clear coating x 3, failing that the premises have a fully fledged sprinkler system for the premises are full of chemicals, I think the osb would be the least of their worries if a fire broke out... but appreciate the heads up all the same
