Changing kitchen ceiling rose to led ceiling light

hi all, I want to change the ordinary pendant light in our kitchen to a flat LED light.

There are a few things coming off the ceiling rose (extractor fan, outside security light etc), so quite a few wires.

Can I just use Wago connectors and push them up into the hole in the ceiling, and then just have one cable coming through into the light?

If it was an upstairs light, I’d put a junction box in the loft just above and drop a cable down, but this is a downstairs light.

No, they must be in an enclosure. Seeing as you've probably got 5 cables plus the cable to the lamp, you'll need something fairly big...

Could you show us how much space they have provided on the back of the new lamp for connections?

That sure is a 'busy' ceiling rose!

You have 6 reds(possibly 7) in the middle, so you have 7 or 8 cables in total(the box I linked to before says max 6). You either need a very big hole in the ceiling for something like a Wagobox XL, or enough slack to push two smaller boxes into the ceiling, daisy chained together.

Are you sure you wouldn't prefer to leave the rose where it is, mount an MDF ring over it, painted white, and mount the new lamp to the MDF??

Trying to work out in my head why there would be so many cables there...

Ignoring the blue and brown heading to the bulb holder, I can think of:

1 t&e from previous light on radial
1 t&e to next light on radial
1 t&e to the security light
1 3 core and earth to the extractor fan switch
1 2 core and earth to the light switch (2 reds)

Anything else likely?

Nope, not from here. Smoke alarms are on their own circuit.

Someone else suggested a circular dry lining box, but not sure there’d be enough room for all the connectors needed
