If it makes this lady feel better, she should know that the the UK government and MOD couldn't give a damn about anybody that serves in our armed forces. And if while serving you injure or kill anybody the UK government and MOD will give your details to lawyers that will pursue you till the day you die. All approved and encouraged by the UK government and MOD.

Don't be a pr@.

Or can't you help it?

One of the lawyers names was Phil Shiner - a lovely man - he paid people in Iraq (I think) to dream up allegations against our troops. And then his law company would pursue these falsely accused soldiers, all of this was enabled by our government and the MOD, because they gave him the soldiers details.

Then of course we have the travesty of Northern Ireland, it was just yesterday that the government announced setting up a NEW enquiry into our troops at an initial cost of £150,000,000.

And that is the truth and proof that UK government and the MOD couldn't give a damn about our troops.

And he's now been punished for all that.

After complaints had been made.

So do you think it would be better if troops were allowed to murder civilians?

So far the "proof" you've adduced is that they expect troops to act lawfully.

War / conflict is s dirty business most politicians have never served in the armed forces or been in combat or been in a situation where some one is trying to kill you

Plenty of people world wide that have assisted and worked for the armed forces have been abandoned to there fate

Interpreters in conflict zones Iraq , Ahfaganastan ect

And he's now been punished for all that..

Punished, hahahaha, he was allowed to get away with £6,500,000 by this government and MOD friends. Why didn't they slap an injunction on him freezing all his assets?

You missed a word out, the complaints were FALSE.

So do you think it would be better if troops were allowed to murder civilians?

Usual pointless comment

And so do I

You'll have to ask them, given that he was bankrupt.

You missed a word out, the complaints were FALSE.
You see the thing about complaints is that they have to be investigated to determine whether they are true or false.

Usual pointless comment
How so?

And so do I
I'm sure we all expect everybody to obey the law. But we know that not everybody does, and when allegations of lawbreaking are made we carry out investigations. We even have a whole group of people whose job that is - the police. We also know that sometimes the police themselves break the law, which is why there is a complaints process for that, and anti-corruption units etc.

If it is alleged that troops have murdered civilians in the UK, why do you not want that to be investigated?

How much?

The person in the petition said "around £2,000".

And oh, look, from the document you linked to:

I agree he should get a special armed forces discount.
Sign the petition then.

The allegations you refer to were investigated thoroughly at the time they occured and no evidence was found that the killings were unlawful.
You seem to be implying that the government is trying to avoid investigating these claims as part of some sort of cover up.
As has been pointed out these allegations have been investigated on a number of occasions and nothing has been found.
As far as I know 6 ex soldiers have been charged with murder and attempted murder this is despite no new evidence having emerged to justify these charges.
The problem is that the CPS in N.Ireland has become politicised and is unfit for purpose but the government won't do anything about it because they are terrified of upsetting Sinn Fein so they have chosen to take the line of least resistance by throwing a few ex squaddies to the wolves in the hope the SF/IRA won't abandon the "peace process".

I think that BAS's initial post should not be confused with any discussion about other issues.
The issue, and or any discussion, of ex-army officers having to pay for visas to remain in the UK deserves to stand alone.
Other issues should belong in a separate discussion.
