please give us an example of a country that trades only on WTO terms, with no trade deals, so that we can assess how successful and prosperous it is.

Isn't that like saying "remainers are likely to be young people" which apparently is not so?
if you want to test that, look back at the examples previously provided. Of all the people who voted remain, were more than half "young people?"
By my reckoning people under 30 can claim to be young. What do you think?
Now look at people who voted Leave. Were more than half over retirement age?

So by young you mean under 30, so how many of those "young" people are now over 30, and not "young" any more ? And as you delight in mentioning that a lot of people who voted to leave are possibly now dead, there will come a time that a larger percentage of the "older" people would be remain voters.
