Hi. I have a new house (18 months old) and have the above fitted outside which has been running fine and was serviced 3 months ago. It has just started to now give us dirty hot water (basically looks like someone has peed in the bath water!! The actual cold water supply to the boiler is fine and not contaminated because if I run a bath of just cold water, it is clear!
Any suggestions, struggling to find a heating engineer to look at it, the service man that I used doesn't do repairs/breakdowns...…. please help, I'm desperate for a bath in clean water!!!!o_O:confused:

Is the boiler pressure constant? If you are sure that the incoming water is clear, then the only contamination can come from the boiler primary water, but if there is transfer in the DHW heat exchanger, then I would expect it show as a discharge from the pressure valve rather than theother way with primary water contaminating the flow. Whilst the mains water is clean, running from the cold tap is not a valid test for the boiler supply. You need to check the flow into the boiler. It is possible for the pipework to be getting contamination before the boiler. Ask neighbours for recommendations, or check the OFTEC website.

All boiler men should do repairs if he only does servicing that's no good to anyone and a waste of space. If the mains pressure is on the low side eg 1.5bar when the boiler is hot the pressure could be up to 2bar and could leak through a cracked plate but you'd expect it to blow off the prv bit of a puzzle.Bob

As you say Bob.....But as we both frequent that other Forum, We know it is not the case !!
I would definitely lose customers.
A bit like taking your car to the garage to be told,,,,,,It's your water pump we only do oily bits !!!

So another problem goes away. OIt would be polite for the OP to keep us updated after we spend time helping.
