plaster alternative?

Hi all,

so i'm slowly plugging away in my garage - trying to make it as nice of a space to be as I can - bit of a workshop, bit of a man cave.

So,

This is what I have at the mo. I've made a partition wall at one end, just to separate where I put the motorbike and stuff, from the main area. I was intending to have it plastered but it seems a bit overkill really - wondered if some lining paper or similar would be a better option?

I do intend to fill between the rafters with rockwall, then plasterboard over that too but again, don't want to be left with board gaps and screws showing, would prefer to cover it and paint it.

If plastering is the best route to take then so be it but being a garage, I don't want to go overboard if there's a suitable alternative

any suggestions? I'll be leaving the brick exposed (well painted as shown) so it will only be the partition and the ceiling.

Just stick plasterboard up (use everbuild pink foam if you don't want to faff about with dot and dab) and paint. Hang pictures over the joins. Although, looks OK with bricks - are those external walls or attached to house?

left hand side is exposed, right hand side is attached to the house. I could (as I'm guessing you're going to suggest) insulated that wall too but the garage isn't all that wide inside and I'd hate to lose any width.

I've not used any foam to this point, all the boards are screwed to joists - should I have dabbed?

If you use tapered edge boards you can just fill joins and screw heads and sand , paint .

Ideally you should scrimp the joints with self-adhesive plasters scrimp tap before filling (with drywall compound)
