I have only been working with porcelain tiles for the last couple of years.

I have used numerous diamond tile drill bits ranging from 6mm to 127mm. The larger core bits are fine but the 6mm ones always cause me problems. The problem being, how do you remove the tiny core that you have just drilled out from the drill bit?

To date I have only only used "cheap" 6mm bits- ranging up to about £16. One of them was a Dewalt bit that had a slot that enabled you to push the tiny core up into a slot in the shaft that then enabled you to remove the core. The other bits had a tiny hole in the chuck end of the shaft that you can push a small nail through to force the tile core out.

Having recently purchased a rubbish Vitrex 6mm diamond bit that wont even scratch our current porcelain tiles, I am tempted to buy a Macrist 6mm bit (PG750X). Am I still having to waste a bucket load of time trying to push the waste core back out before I can drill the next hole?

Im talking about smashing the core in the bit to extract it

Sorry, my bad. I don't see that would work though.

The Macrist I am looking at is up to £30 for 6mm bit. It is wax filled so you don't have to use water when drilling. I would be concerned that a punch will just push the core higher and damage the wax reserve.

I didn't realise you had posh bits, I have aldi ones which have slots in the side but on the smallest the shaft is hollow so core can be pushed out from chucking end.
I have noticed that cores are more likely to jam if bit jumps through the last bit of tile into the cement which gums it up
