I've got a single light in the loft and I'd like to fit another one over the other side. Does anyone have a diagram of what the best way of adding this in would be?

Many thanks.

run a cable from the existing light.

connect to the wire that goto the existing light bulb

Is it possible to spur it in the switch? I’d rather have cables on the joists than running over head if possible.

Possibly, it depends how it is wired.

As it is in the loft it is likely that the supply cable runs to the switch first (rather than the light first) in which case you can.

Do you have the neutral cable at the switch? Maybe two black or blue wires in a connector.

Post a photo of the switch wiring.

That's good.

Just connect the new light cable -
Earth to Earth,
Blue to Blue, and
Brown to Brown in '1 way'

There is just a chance that this will result in the light being permanently ON.
If this happens move the new Brown to COM.

As has been said, but here is a wiring diagram.

Thanks for that. I’ll give it a try tomorrow and report back.

And for the avoidance of doubt, switch off the main electric before you start! And use a torch.

Thanks for the advice all. I now have 2 lights in the loft and suffered no electric shock!
